CANON CHARACTER INFORMATION

Character Name: Hana Song
Canon: Overwatch
Backstory: Wiki
Personality: Hana Song, otherwise known as D.Va in the competitive Starcraft world and her allies, can be a bit of a childish girl sometimes; but overall, she's a pretty outgoing person with a personality that shows off her gaming background as well as her competitive side.

Initially, she had no part in Overwatch, but with the second Omnic Uprising devastating her home, she rose to the occasion as soon as she could. By joining MEKA, Mobile Exo-Force of the Korean Army, all she's ever wanted was to save her home. If it means protecting what is precious to her, she will charge in without any fear -- and maybe a bit more reckless than she should be. When she visits Eichenwalde, she does note that she hopes that her homeland can also come back and rebuild her country. So in the end, she does know the ravages of war to some extent and would love to travel more often.

Although in her free time, she enjoys playing a number of games, notably being the number one player in the Starcraft scene and getting quite a bit of fans as a result. She has retired from competitive play in that aspect, but she does have the habit of quoting references from various games. That said, it goes without saying that she's very competitive. Being number one for so long at the at of 16 is quite a feat and bound to come with a competitive side. Because of that, she also tends to hate losing (who doesn't?), but no matter how mad she'll get, in the end she'll try to be a good sport.

She may not be in the competitive scene anymore, but she has started to stream her battlefield experiences and though she streams live content that may be considered strange, her fans seem to really enjoy it. She's notably comfortable in the limelight, if her live streams aren't enough to go by, going as far as even starring in a movie called "Hero of My Storm". She also has a bit of dialog with Lucio, stating she's a big fan of his music; They both seem to be fans of each other.

May it be because of protecting her home or just crushing some noobs in a game, she's always been a pretty goal orientated person. She strives to do what she can to protect her home and once she has her mind set on something, it's hard to change it; making her a bit stubborn from time to time.

As much as she teases from time to time and responds back in a childish way on occasion; as noted towards soldier when he says war isn't a game and she just questions him about life being a game. As much as she might tease, due to her outgoing and playful manner half of the time, she gets easily flustered from time to time. Those times usually resulting in childish comebacks.

That said her strengths are easily her confidence in herself as well as her desire to do her share for the world they live in now. Even in the most dire situations, she's more than willing to charge the front lines in her MEKA to protect those close to her and those in trouble. She doesn't seem to worry when things get tough and takes it as a challenge to beat whatever comes her way, thanks to her competitive spirit. Being a skilled gamer has also made her a natural in her MEKA and peerless in her field. Though she has a nasty habit of sending her MEKA towards enemies to self destruct (and somehow has a good supply of them if you go by game logic, but is that really canon?), she seems to be as versatile and a bit slippery to hit outside of her MEKA, making her a tough target to hit.

But just as you can be just as skilled with a competitive spirit, it could also be your undoing at times. She tends to get in way over her head and become a bit reckless until it's a bit too late to back out without repercussions. She tries her best to be a good sport when she loses, but let's face it... It's hard for her from time to time. Any gamer is prone to get easily irritated at some point, so she has a bit of a short fuse at times, but you tend to see it more when people comments on her age, despite technically being a young adult.

AU INFORMATION

AU Character Name: Hana Song
AU Backstory: Hana is actually from Seoul, South Korea. Having such a promising start, raising up to the top of the ranks when she was only 16, she became the number one Starcraft player in Korea. Known for her no mercy gameplay and winning at any rate (short of hacking or cheating), she's become quiet the idol. Even so much so as to star in a few movies.

Once she was given the opportunity to star in another movie in Los Angeles, she immediately took up the role. Having studied English for her past movies and over all esports scene, she seems fluent enough to get by. Thankfully for her, her uncle happened to be a producer for the film. She thought that the offer was brought up by him, but she got in by her own skills. It wasn't long until the esports scene in America caught wind of her movie deal as well has her study abroad. With starring in yet another film and joining the esports scene, she became quite the idol.

Meanwhile, Hana is currently attending UCLA for her Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater while she's abroad. She figured it would be best to take the plunge into college while she was staying in Los Angeles. Unbeknownst to her though, what seemed like a generous tip about the role from her uncle had really been for his own twisted desires.

All of this time she thought he was there to try to support her and her acting career, when in the end all he needed her for was to make a profit off of her; To piggyback on her success. She often thought the times that she'd gotten chewed out for things she did wrong were harsh, but she didn't seem to consider just how unjust it was right away; He was family so surely he meant well, right? In the end, she only got the role because of him pulling some strings. That left her feeling lost and confused as to if she was really fit for the role. Did she get there on her own success and hard work, or had she just been lead astray by a crooked adult?

It wasn't too long after she'd started to really think about these things that she noticed a strange app appear on her phone. No matter what she did to delete the weird red eye app, it always came back for some reason. During this time she realized that she wanted to show the world -- and herself -- that she was more than capable of standing on that stage on her own abilities. She wouldn't let anyone use her for their own gain anymore.
AU Personality Deviation: One of the most obvious differences from her OU self is that there was no war that's revenged her homeland. As a result, she was never employed by MEKA to fight in the second uprising of the Omnic Crisis. She's just as brave and determined as before, but it wouldn't be for the sake of her homeland this time.

She was sick of everyone using the success she made for herself for their own gain. She was sick of having people try to befriend her when all they wanted was her fame or status. She has no qualms with standing in the limelight, but when it comes to coming between her and having a real connection with someone, she has problems. Once she was set on relying on herself to see to her dreams, she became very determined to achieve her goal, no matter what. She'll face any struggles head on to raise above those who choose to use other people for their own gain with little regard for the person they're affecting.

Questions Sample Prompt:

0: The Fool asks - What is the most life-changing event you have experienced?
I would have to say making it big in esports at this point. It's opened a lot of doors for me.

III: The Empress asks - What are your hopes for the future?
I really want to make a name for myself and continue to improve and raise to the top. I don't want to held down by what some corrupt adult says I can or can't do. I'll get there on my own two feet.

IV: The Emperor asks - What do you feel is within your ability to control?
Well, there's a lot of things you can do as long as you put in the time and effort to make them a reality. If you want to do something, you just need to go for it and pursue it with everything you've got. Sure there are things in life that you can't control, but I feel like with willpower and effort, you can do anything you set your mind to.

VI: The Lovers ask - Where do you see your life going? Are you satisfied with this path?
I've been pretty fortunate in my life, so things are going great for me. You never know what the future holds though. Things change and you just going to keep up in order to reach your goals.

VII: The Chariot asks - What is it that you cannot lose in and why?
I don't think my pride would allow me to take losing in games that easily. More than that, I will show who can really stand out and make a name for myself for both my esports and acting career and nothing is going to stand in my way. I refuse to let anyone hold me down when I know I can do so much more; especially not some rotten, selfish adults who take advantage of those younger to them because we're more "expandable".

VIII: The Justice asks - What does your justice entail?
I won't let anyone else's blood, sweat, and tears go to waste. We work so hard for the things we want and I refuse to allow someone else to butt in and take the credit for their hard work. Not again.

IX: The Hermit asks - What do you do when given the grace of solitude?
About 9/10 times, I'm more than likely playing video games in my room. Usually they're multiplier games, but I do like to play one player games on occasion when I just want to relax. That or catch up with memes and videos online.

X: The Fortune asks - Do you believe in Destiny? Why, or why not?
I feel like to really get anywhere in life, you need to work for it yourself rather than assuming it's just going to happen over time. Destiny is a nice thought sometimes, but I'd rather have control over my own destiny rather than letting anything or anyone else chart how I live my life.

XI: The Strength asks - How do you respond in the face of danger?
Well if it's either fight and live or run and hide, I'd rather face my problems head on; Especially if is something I believe that I need to tackle or protect. More often than not, I'm going to have to fight so it's best to just brace it head on rather than run and hide.

XIX: The Sun asks - What in this world makes you happy and why?
The obvious answer is video games, but I also really enjoy music because it's something that I can relate to. Acting has always been a passion, but I haven't been able to pursue that as much just yet in my life. I also find strength in my friends and family and I'll do whatever I can to protect them. I also really appreciate having so many fans who look up to me and think pretty highly of me. I think it's because of their support that I've gotten as far as I have, as well as those closest to me.

XX: The Judgement asks - What is the hardest thing in your life you have had to accept and why?
The way our world has become so corrupt and twisted has gotten to be so unbearable these days. All of the corrupt adults taking advantage of those who are weak or unable to fight back is just sickening.
